Performance, Cascading Goals

Strategy

I am certified in “Stages of Growth” that helps companies with >500 employees “act their stage”.

Communication

Drew this on the fly in a workshop in a workshop for IT participants. I was teaching them to adjust communication based on the audience.

  • Airplane: Executive – sees whole org. Speak to in terms of ROI.
  • Parachute: See part of the org; regional manager, area director. They’re interested in their area of focus.
  • Walker: End user; “make my job easier.”

Example:

  • AIRPLANE: Find the best candidates, reduce risk, time to hire.
  • PARACHUTE (HR Director): Same as above + get rid of a lot of manual processes, reduce risk.
  • WALKER (End User): Better candidate matches, easier workflow between candidates and managers.
Framework or model for more effective communication by level.

Team View: Getting the Right Leaders to Sell Change

Change was not going well at a large utility company. Most of the leaders were analytical types; they couldn’t understand why people didn’t accept the FACTS around change. We leveraged the styles more likely to recognize and address feelings around change.
